Pet’s are the Winners (Again) Due to the IoT

Our pets are often our favourites, our fur babies, spoilt rotten.
With the introduction of the internet of things and smart pet care systems in recent years, the pedestals we put our pets on are only going to get higher.

Briefly speaking: The Internet and all its connected devices (making up the Internet of things) surround us and the trend of ‘smart’ devices is only going to grow in the coming years.

Currently, for pets, these smart devices come in the forms of Automatic Feeders (both Manual and timed) , Cameras, Apps that all interconnect with the world that our pets and us live in.
How? Well, these new devices talk to our web servers, our mobile devices (aka the things) through the internet to do functions that we don’t have to anymore.

The IoT doesn’t just connect with our pets inside, it can also be used outside.
There are now GPS trackers for their collars that connect to your phone.
Even though the battery life of these rechargeable devices is short at the moment, in a few years they could be optimised for weeks between charges and could help assist in finding lost pets via an app.

With these devices communicating and messaging between various apps and technology through the use of the internet. This phenomenon creates ‘big data’ that is building up around us. It’s up to companies to sort it in order to maximise their performance and profitability.

The benefits of the IoT for our pets are :

The benefits for us are:

I believe as these technologies get smarter and smarter there will soon be systems that can babysit our pets for us and replace pet sitters all together:
