In my opinion mobile marketing is one of the most important and influential media to connect with consumers.
Why you may ask?
The growth of mobile devices and social media is occurring quicker than ever anticipated.
Now referred to as the ‘fourth screen’ this is now a new fundamental element in marketing.
What conditions does this form of marketing operate under?
- Ubiquitous Network– that being a combination of networks, wifi to data to different wifi etc.
- Easily accessible at all times
- A personal device– one that monitors the habits of the user, not everyone around them
Due to the fact that we all now carry our phones around with us as an extension of our hands.

This type of marketing is perfect for the busy, fast pace and always connected nature of our lives in the digital age. As seen by 90% of users with a personal mobile device using their phones to chase a goal/dream/passion of theirs while ‘out and about’.
Mobile devices are smaller and therefore they require a lot more attention to detail as only so much can be on a screen. Success on a mobile platform comes, like anything, when a problem is solved, the price is justified (or even Better Free !!) and easy for even the least tech savvy person to use (which is why smartphones haven taken over from the simple flip phone)

Developments in smartphone technologies allow for a more tailored approach to marketing. It can be seen through applications such as spotify, starbucks and even Mcdonalds that have Location Based Services (most of us enable them just to get that pesky push notification off the screen), personalised (or user generated content) and some type of reward or discount program.
Mobile Marketing= Personalised Marketing.
This tailored response is so vital as if we feel like these apps know us, like us, and our mobiles have a connection that is positive then why wouldn’t we pay attention, trust the content (thus business) and generate conversions for them?
